What equipment do I need to get started?
To start working out at home, all we need are a few kettlebells and our own body weight. If your budget allows it would be also good to buy some resistance bands (mini bands, powerbands) and suspension trainer. This is all we need to effectively train the whole body at home.
How many kettlebells you need to start and when to buy more?
Is one kettlebell enough at the beginning? It can be difficult to do all exercises with one weight. Kettlebell that is suitable for exercises such as deadlift, squat or swing may prove to be too heavy for exercises such as TGU, snatch or clean. It is worth get yourself two or three kettlebells more so that you can follow the plan completely and train full body movements safe. When you got better with kettlebell movements you will want to go heavier. It is perfectly ok, so over time you’ll notice the need to expand with kettlebells in your home gym.
Safety First
Kettlebells are considered a very safe training tool. However, do not forget that training with the wrong technique can lead to injury. Our bodies can be exercised with a certain margin of error, but the longer we train incorrectly this margin is reduced. Therefore, you must first learn the techniques of basic exercises using kettlebells.
Find out if there is a qualified trainer in your area who specializes in this type of training or understand body mechanics. However, if you decide to train on your own, remember to start easy and listen carefully to your body. In weight training – less is more!
Don’t feel restricted! You can train anywhere with kettlebells
An investment in kettlebells will not go to waste, because you can take them anywhere. It’s a great answer to being active while on holiday or on a business trip (we cannot say the same about barbells for example).
Therefore, we strongly encourage you to start weight training and explore beautiful places for kettlebell training 😉
