Barefoot training – feel your feet to strengthen your body

Lifestyle

Do your feet a favour – do your training barefoot and don’t worry about the shoes!

Why is it so important to give it a try?

We spend most of our day wearing shoes. Some of them are uncomfortable and significantly limit or even hurt our feet, others are so comfortable, that in the long run they weaken our muscles. The healthy and well-fitted ones are not always an option, especially for a classy party or a business meeting.

The good news is – you can do your training barefoot and not worry about the shoes!

It may be frustrating at first…

The beginning can be really frustrating, but just like anything else, it takes some getting used to. It may be uncomfortable or feel like you have no control doing some exercise, but this is good, because it shows your reallimitations. Your feet give you awayand expose your weaknesses, immediately.

So what is the key to improvement? Patience and precision in the execution of each exercise. By carefully practising the basic human movements using kettlebells, our feet adapt to the new environment and get stronger.

Sometimes this will require working in shorter ranges of motion or significantly reducing the load, but all of this is to build stability and improve joint mobility.

Train barefoot or choose the right shoes

Training barefoot is the cheapest way to get started, for sure. But you can also choose very basic, flat shoes (take a look in your wardrobe for some old Chuck Taylor’s) or even grab a pair of non-slip socks. Fivefingers shoes will also work great!

Why bother with training if you can’t get a six pack on your feet?

Maybe training your feet doesn’t sound sexy at first, but it is very important. Feet are the foundation for all the muscles and joints above, so never neglect them. The beginnings can be tough, but the end result is worth the way.
